PBRgen User Guide

Overview

PBRgen turns a text prompt or image into a full PBR material ready for any 3D software.

Work through the steps left to right: generate a base texture, edit it, create the material maps, tweak each map, then export.

Every material you create is saved to your library automatically.

Step 1 - Generate

Type a prompt describing the surface you want and click Generate.

Use Presets to load example prompts.

Use Enhance to improve your prompt with AI.

Use Surprise me for a random prompt.

Drag an image into the prompt area to generate a prompt from it automatically.

Results appear as thumbnails. Click one to select it. Use the arrow keys to navigate.

Optional

-

Prompt style: applies a style modifier to steer the visual style.

-

Input colors: seeds the generation with specific colors.

-

Guide map: provides a spatial reference image to control composition.

-

Model and resolution can be set before generating.

Step 2 - Edit

Edit repaints the selected texture with AI while keeping its overall structure.

Choose a preset or write your own edit prompt.

-

Each edit creates a new version. Click thumbnails to compare.

Use Add original prompt to append your generation prompt to the edit prompt.

Step 3 - Create material

Generates a full set of PBR maps from the selected texture.

Toggle Inpaint seams to make the texture tile seamlessly. The AI regenerates the seam area.

Adjust seam size to control how wide the inpainted region is.

Choose a resolution and click Create material from texture.

Step 4 - Tweak

Adjust each PBR map using a layer stack.

Click a map tab at the top to select it: COL, ROUGH, NRM, DISP, MTL, REFL.

Click Add to add a layer. Layers process from top to bottom.

Drag a layer header to reorder it.

Layer types

-

Sources (Map, Color, Noise, Math): add or blend content into the channel.

-

Effects (Blur, Levels, Brightness, Contrast, etc.): adjust everything below.

Press V or click 2D in the viewport to see the active map in real time while editing.

Step 5 - Export

Set a material name. Maps are saved as [name]_COL.png, [name]_NRM.png, etc.

Toggle which maps to include in the download.

-

Set the export resolution to reduce file size if needed.

Use Packed textures to combine maps into a single RGBA file. Common for game engines (ORM packing).

Click Download material to export a zip with all selected maps.

Library

Your materials are stored in My materials.

-

Click a material to open it.

-

Right-click a material for options: rename, delete, or move to a folder.

-

Drag materials into folders to stay organized.

-

Examples contains sample materials to explore different styles.

Viewport

The 3D viewport shows a shaderball preview of your material.

-

Press V or use the 3D/2D button to switch views.

-

In 2D mode you can zoom and pan the texture.

-

In the Tweak step, 2D mode shows the active map updating in real time.
